PUTRAJAYA, February 1 — Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil has raised concerns about the risks Orang Asli communities face with new internet access, noting that pornography and online gambling websites are often among the first accessed. Speaking at the International Asia Security Summit and Expo 2025, Fahmi emphasized the need for balanced measures to enhance connectivity while ensuring online safety, particularly in vulnerable communities.
To address these challenges, Fahmi announced the launch of an Online Safety Campaign, aimed at educating users about safe internet practices. The campaign will be rolled out across learning institutions nationwide, reinforcing the government’s commitment to providing not only faster and more affordable internet but also a secure online environment.
