GEORGE TOWN, May 2 — Chow Kon Yeow has announced that the Penang state government will extend the appeal period for cases arising from the new quit rent (land tax) review until May 31.
Following more than 10,000 appeals submitted by landowners. The decision was made at the State Executive Council meeting on April 29.
Chow said the state will also exempt late payment fees for land tax, parcel tax and temporary block tax for payments made after the deadline, aiming to ease financial pressure during the transition.
He urged landowners to submit appeals through official channels as the government works through thousands of cases already received and processed across district offices.
