KUALA LUMPUR, October 23 — Malaysia is among 19 countries identified in a global AI-assisted hacking campaign targeting organisations across financial services, retail, education and cryptocurrency sectors.

Zscaler’s ThreatLabz researchers found that an operator used multiple AI models to conduct research, automate tasks and seek sensitive personal and financial information.

The campaign, known as ARTEX, drew attention following attacks targeting South Korean financial institutions, although the extent of its impact in Malaysia remains unclear.

Zscaler cybersecurity executive Deepen Desai urged organisations to strengthen their defences through Zero Trust security, network segmentation and proactive vulnerability testing.
