KUALA LUMPUR, March 1 — Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli has confirmed that he has replied to a show-cause letter issued by the secretary-general of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) regarding his recent remarks about contesting the Pandan parliamentary seat in the 16th General Election (GE16).

PKR had reportedly interpreted his statement — that he may contest not under the party’s ticket — as a declaration of leaving the party, which could trigger the vacation of his seat under anti-party hopping provisions.

In his written response, Rafizi clarified that he will remain a PKR member and continue serving as MP for Pandan until Parliament is dissolved for GE16.

He stressed that any future political plans after dissolution would not contravene party-hopping laws, as those apply mid-term. He argued that his interview remarks were clear and required no complex reinterpretation.
