WASHINGTON, March 1 — US President Donald Trump announced that Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khameneihas been killed following coordinated US-Israeli air strikes across Iran, a claim later confirmed by Iranian state media.
In a statement on social media, Trump described the killing as justice and called it “the single greatest chance” for the Iranian people to reclaim their country.
He said bombing operations would continue as part of efforts to secure peace in the Middle East. Iranian authorities declared 40 days of mourning and blamed the United States and Israel for Khamenei’s death.
Reports indicate that dozens of senior Iranian officials were also killed in the strikes, while retaliatory attacks were launched across parts of the Middle East.
The development marks a major escalation in regional tensions and raises uncertainty over Iran’s political future.
